Video Challenge Registration

This is a two step process. Step 1 entails providing information on this webpage. Step 2 entails uploading your video file. After completing and submitting Step 1, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to upload your video file. Both Steps 1 and 2 must be completed before the deadline of noon (GMT) 15 October 2024.

Please state your disciplinary background, title of your PhD, at what stage (year) of your PhD you are in, what motivated you to choose and pursue your PhD, and your plans / hopes for after you complete your PhD.

Consent and Submission
  1. You hereby agree that in entering into competition and submitting your video and/or any other material (collectively, ‘Your Content’) that you have read, understood and agreed to these terms and conditions;
  2. All rights (including all copyrights) in and to Your Content vest in and are wholly owned by you (and shall remain so in perpetuity), or are otherwise properly and fully granted to you in order for you to submit Your Content to us, subject to the licence set out in clause 3 below;
  3. You hereby grant the Organisers (and/or our assignees and licencees) a perpetual, irrevocable, transferrable, royalty-free licence to upload, host, show, exhibit, play, make publicly available and/or otherwise use Your Content via our website and/or any third party website and/or platform that we in our absolute discretion may choose. This licence of rights shall be exclusive for the first six (6) months from the date you submit Your Content to us, and thereafter on a non-exclusive basis;
  4. You hereby warrant (that is, legally promise) that:
    • You are free to enter into these terms and conditions and grant us all the rights to Your Content that are set out in these terms and conditions;
    • Your Content will be wholly original to you and/or if Your Content contains any material or elements that do not belong to you, you have all necessary licences, consents and clearances to include such materials or elements in Your Content;
    • nothing in Your Content will be defamatory, blasphemous, obscene or infringe any rights (including, without limitation, any copyrights) of any person, firm or company;
    • you hereby grant us all rights necessary to use Your Content in accordance with these terms and conditions
    • you will indemnify the Organisers against all costs incurred by us as a result of any breach by you of these terms and conditions.
